I wanna live I wanna love I wanna laugh and always be free I wanna sleep when my eyelids grow heavy I wanna be surrounded by beauty A champion in the face of defeat How did I get here idling on the freeway How did I grow up a big let down How did my mind get filled up with nothing But money booze and plots from television I wanna try and then succeed and never worry bout a thing I wanna kiss you like it’s love everlasting I wanna earn such deep respect appreciate all that I get My family won't want for nothing How did I get here idling on the freeway How did I grow up a big let down How did my mind get filled up with nothing But money food and plots from television But money booze and plots from television But money sex and plots from television We don't want no quick fix prescription We don't want evangelism Cell phone your closest companion You are alive You are alive you were born kicking and screaming You are alive awake each new morning You are alive how the hell did this happen How did I get here idling on the freeway How did I grow up a big let down How did my mind get filled up with nothing But money drugs and plots from television But money booze and plots from television But money sex and plots from television Idealism , Idealism, Idealism

BERLIN All the things we do for money Would we do the same for love All the time we been stealing Is it enough Made big plans for working Passions pulling on me Forget that ladder we’re climbing Let’s be light as the breeze We could move to Berlin They got squatters’ rights I want to feel that way again dancing all night Before we grew up Before things got done Won’t you take that worry off your shoulders We can fret when we’re older Dreaming big shooting for the stars Make it happen no matter the cost When you’ll die to be somebody There’s no time for getting lost CHORUS You’re so beautiful Nobody’s done you quite like you And nobody ever will You’re so beautiful And I’ll be loving you We could move to Berlin They got squatters’ rights I want to feel that way again up all night All the things we do for money Would we do the same for love All the time we been stealing Is it enough

Where is your heart On all the wrong things Where can you start Just enjoying Being naked eyes open to the world Stop faking that you’ve been here before The sun will come up in the morning And in the bed, I’ll be sleeping Maybe I’m drunk and I’m sleeping it off again Where is your heart On all the wrong things Where can you start When the moments so fleeting Being naked and open to the world Stop faking that you’ve been here before Those good kids they were never my crowd Such recklessness I thought we’d grown it out I’m tired of being let down Who’s gonna raise your son if you’re not around Where is your Where is your Where is your Where is your heart Where is your Where is your Where is your Where is your heart Where is your Where is your Where is your Where is your heart It’s expanding contracting The sun comes up in the morning It's expanding and contracting The sun goes down in the evening It's expanding and contracting It's expanding and contracting Tell me where is your where is your where is your heart where is your heart on all the wrong things Where can you start Being naked eyes open to the world I am naked eyes open to the world Keep faking that I been here before

Can't imagine riding an airplane going on vacation I’ve been working nights and weekends since I was walking School is fleeting sometimes dad gets angry If he hits me he always is sorry Some night are hungry but we pray each evening for a bright new morning Being poor isn’t extraordinary Without a dream something to believe in I ask god why I'm living My new boyfriend brings me flowers We ride his motorcycle As we go flying my arms around I never been so in love Now I go to school in the morning I go back in the evening Too much for harvest season I can't help staring at those pressed school uniforms I too wanna learn Being poor isn’t extraordinary Without a dream something to believe in I ask god why I'm living When I learned I was pregnant I could not stop crying Although he’ll make a good husband His days in construction moving rocks from left to right Our baby's with me day and night I'm not much for reading words have no meaning They came slow when they came at all Baby on my back now and little by little I forget what it was to be alone Being poor isn’t extraordinary Without a dream something to believe in I ask god why I'm living I can’t imagine riding an airplane Going on vacation

Strung out on campaign lines Fold a flag over my eyes Hear the lonely tone of the whistle blow It’s truly frightening But Things are never what they seem question everything you’re told These borders cannot divide Your heart was not built to take sides I see a little light in you While the bombs were dropping They had to do something At least for the children’s sake They sailed away Chartered a one way Gave their home a living wake They found no welcome signs Barbed wire and borderlines Refugees now a monster make Liberty Raise your torch for freedom If you can’t go home my door is open If you lose your faith I’ll keep on believing Born and raised on American dreams I see a little light in you Speak the tongue of your mother In a land without owners This world is ours to discover We could learn from each other See there’s more to love than to fear Liberty Raise your torch for freedom If you can’t go home my door is open If you lose your faith I’ll keep on hoping We were born and raised on American dreams If you can’t go home you can stay with me

Trailers baking in the desert sun Got the stars above And the highways hum Bald tires holding down windswept roofs I’m so ashamed and what we done to you Driving through Navajo land Everything they had for the taking I can feel the blood on my hands Passing through Navajo nation Selling jewelry at a roadside stand What can you do when your culture’s been broken Can’t help wondering how it might have been How bout I’m sorry next time it can be different Driving through Navajo land Everything they had for the taking I can feel the blood on my hands Passing through Navajo nation The stray dogs are begging in the burger king parking lot I wish that I could take them all home And sing for you, I’m sorry and you’re not alone I’m sorry and you’re not alone I’m sorry and you’re not alone I’m sorry and you’re not alone Driving through Navajo land Everything they had for the taking I can feel the blood on my hands I’m sorry and you’re not alone

On the dusty streets of Yamaparez I arrived by jet plane some ideas and a guitar I want those kids to have it all The world is full of impossible things You don’t have to settle The world is full of impossible things But you don’t have to settle For television dreams Turn off your screens You’re the next big thing On the streets outside Montevideo where the tourists stop and the locals live Poor in pocket but not in spirit You know I want those kids to have it all The world is full of impossible things You don’t have to settle The world is full of impossible things But you don’t have to settle For television dreams Turn off your screens You’re the next big thing You gotta work hard learn all you can don't let them tell you no the world is full of impossible things you gotta work hard rise above take your time there's no rush The world is full of impossible things You don’t have to settle The world is full of impossible things But you don’t have to settle For television dreams Turn off your screens You’re the next big thing

Drive until I lose the road, Drive until I lose the road, Sometimes I’m most at home when I don’t know where to go Drive until I lose the road, Love you but I cannot stay, Love you but I always stray Places I am going they don’t give our kind a name Love you but I cannot stay I beg and plead The miles could stretch out behind me Looking up at stars without names I am changed Trouble stay away from me, I’m like a gambler with the lottery Temptation is my best friend with expert timing Trouble stay away from me Try I try I’m bound to fail, To a hammer, everything is a nail Fear it was an Everest my experience molehills Try I try I’m bound to fail I beg and plead The miles could stretch out behind me Looking up at stars without names I am changed I slept in parking I played for free I slept in parking lots and played for free But in my wildest dreams I never hoped you’d stick by me I slept in parking lots and played for free I beg and plead The miles could stretch out behind me Looking up at stars without names I am changed Drive until I lose the road, Drive until I lose the road, But I’ll always have a place for you Anywhere we go it’s the passenger seat and our home is the road

I’m not leaving you Although i’m missing home I’ll see this one through No i’m not leaving you You never know when you’ll be doing blow In a Bolivian bathroom with your new friend Alejandro And bumming cigarettes swallowing your hiccups Jump the line at the nightclub Salud another pilsner While I'm sobbing on the sidewalk never know the right time or the place to fall apart But you can pull yourself together in a drunken sleep No I'm not leaving you Although I'm missing home I’ll see this one through No I'm not leaving you You never know when you’ll be in way over your head In a swimming pool that’s haunted by the ghosts of the mine town Staring at the night sky but you don’t recognize a single star So far so far Sweating on an overnight bus holding in your insides Never know the right time or place to fall apart But you can pull yourself together ain’t travel neat Mmmm, mmmm, oooooh, ooooh I’m not leaving you

about

This album consists of songs written and at times recorded 2012-2017 on travels across 48 states in the USA, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Germany, Ireland, and Norway. "Spring Cleaning" of sorts, I wanted to bring these song ideas, notebook scribbles, and disconnected voice memo recordings to life. I also wanted to make a record without spending a dime- although many beers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and cups of coffee were bartered.

Thus with my two channel interface, a handful of microphones and an outdated version GarageBand I set out bring "Travel Songs" to life. I intentionally did not do any looping on this record, I will save that for future recordings and the live show. This project was all about the songs, the stories and hopefully the adventures you may share in.

Many thanks to all of the musicians who joined me- a Nashville cast of characters I have managed to befriend over the past year of living in Music City. Be sure to check them out and their projects- in the credits!

Thanks to Performer Magazine, they chose me as the winner of two Sterling Monitors- without which mixing would have been nearly impossible.

Thanks to Mike Degener for Mastering this record!

Thanks to Deirdre Doran who took the photo on the album, accompanied me on so many of these adventures and helped out all along the way of the making of this album.

Thank you for listening, may you always have your sense of adventure. Go out and explore the world!

Cover photo taken by Deirdre Doran. Photo was taken on top of a cathedral in Potosí, Bolivia. Located at over 13,000 feet, oxygen is thin. Once the main source of wealth for the Spanish empire, there the "mountain" has taken the lives of more than 4 million silver miners. Even today, men still mine the mountain for precious minerals. The life expectancy of a mine worker is not over 40. Strange vibes in that town.
